6th grade SOIL LAB in the field

So....how to make soil interesting? Well, we went out into the school area and took soil samples from all around. The students checked air and soil temperature, looked for any living creatures and soil horizons. Inside the lab, the students checked soil pH and identified soil type using a flow chart and testing texture, color and saturation. And plus it was fun to get OUTSIDE! :)

Checking the soil temperature.

Thanks again 6th grade for allowing me the freedom to try something new with you and doing a great job learning about soil.
