Something to think about...

One of many reasons why science AND art are so fun! And why, EVERY day, my students teach ME something too.

4th graders taking flight

Making three paper gliders each, the students tested their designs for flight time, distance and smoothness.

Working as a team to measure!

6th grade

Where Acid Reigns -checking the effect of chemical weathering on: limestone, granite and marble.

Measuring and using vinegar to simulate the acid in acid rain from carbon emissions and fossil fuel use.

Putting samples of rock in containers.

Using litmus and pH paper to detect hydrogen ions.

Observing reactions. Is there any bubbling?

7th grade identifying leaves

After learning about various leaf identifications, the students went and took many pictures of the wide variety of leaves right here on and near STM property.

Then they made PicCollages using the terminology to identify various leaf properties. This will also benefit learning as we progress to plant AND animal ADAPTATIONS.

Just a few examples, but their respective layouts and variety of pictures is a great way for them to use their creativity as they observe their surroundings.
